The Horn Around the World
I am incredibly excited to present The Horn Around the World (THAW) at the 53rd International Horn Symposium! In this time of tragedy and division music is something we turn to for solace, comfort, and escape. Music has the power to bridge divides, foster healing, and promote peace and I seek to do exactly that with THAW. I am presenting six solo horn pieces, one from each inhabited continent, all by living composers, and all but one by female composers or composers of color. My main mission with THAW is to help us heal from a traumatic year and go forward with greater understanding, tolerance, and compassion.

At the same time musicians all around the world are struggling with varying degrees of income loss. While I am fortunate to now be employed I know all too well how it feels to be hung out to dry having gone through the 14-week Baltimore Symphony Orchestra lockout in 2019. I remain grateful for so many colleagues who helped us in our time of need so am giving back by donating to musicians' relief funds and raising money through THAW.
Below is a partial list of funds I have donated to that are among the options that I ask you to consider supporting. For the rest of 2021 I will also be donating at least half of all income from lessons and masterclasses to relief funds and am offering discounted rates due to the circumstances. If you are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity to help our fellow musicians, please use the contact form to get in touch.
